Prayer for our homes, home country and local churches
ChristDay 2017 invites Christians from all denominations and Christian ministries to come together to pray for Finland and its people.
The Christ Day culminates on Saturday 2.12. with a flag parade where the crest flags of every Finnish municipality will be brought to the main floor of the arena to form a cross.

Join the prayer and come to Turku on December 2nd 2017!
"Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” (1Kings 18:37)

BACKGROUND
This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finnish independence. Christians from every municipality, every denomination and Christian movement in our country are invited to come to Turku. This prayer day is one of the main events for both the anniversary of the reformation and the 100th anniversary of the Finnish independence. The core of the day is prayer and what unites all Christians: Christ and the cross that is found also in the flag of Finland.
Hall full of prayers

This event is linked to the ChristDay that was celebrated in 2008 in Turku. Also this time about 10000 Christians are expected to arrive in Turku hall (nowadays Gatorade centre) to pray for Finland. The aim is that the prayer movement spreads from this event to every town, city and village. Like after the first ChristDay we hope to see again interdenominational prayer events and movements rising all around Finland. Are the Christians already praying together in your home town or region? Could you be the one initiating and spreading the vision for prayer for your area? We are seeking committed people to pray from every municipality in Finland to represent their local area as flag bearers.
Prayer focus: home

The key word for this ChristDay is “home”. This day centres around three big themes: home, home country and local church. We want to ask for God´s renewing blessing for our families, home towns and for all local churches. We also want to convey the message about God’s love and about the possibilities of prayer. One of the highlights of the day will be the moment when the representatives of every municipality of Finland will carry the coats of arms of their municipality into the Gatorade centre arena forming a cross. Could there be a better way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland?
Remembering our neighbours

The principle of the Great Commandment and of God’s love are at the heart of the ChristDay. Christians from different parts of the world living in Finland will participate in the event. We will also be praying for them and their countries. We hope that there will be a wide representation from the whole of Finland in this ChristDay event. Congregations are encouraged to organise both local prayer evenings and bus trips to ChristDay in Turku. For those coming from far away a possibility for home accommodation will be available.

Join the prayer
Pray for your home town and for Finland during the whole anniversary 2017. Bless the preparations for the ChristDay event and the central persons working on it. Pray using the words of the prophet Elijah for a strong touch of the Holy Spirit: "Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” (1Kings 18:37)

Pray together
Keep ChristDay in your prayers and introduce it to your church or small group. Could you start a ChristDay prayer group in your home town? If your church would like to host a "Towards ChristDay" prayer event, we would love to tell you more. Contact us: info (at) kristuspaiva.fi
“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

Become a flag bearer
for your municipality
Like in the previous ChristDay, also now we are looking for flag bearers (and prayer partners for them) from every municipality in Finland. We are looking for flag bearers who could be running prayer groups and organising prayer events in their area. A prayer partner could, if possible, represent another denomination. If the flag bearer is not a parish worker, a recommendation from his/her pastor is needed.
You can already now start praying for and thinking about who would be the flag bearer of your municipality. For more information contact: panu.pitkanen (at) hengenuudistus.fi or pasi.jaakkola (at) evl.fi
for your nation
In addition, we are inviting representatives from other nationalities living in Finland to the flag parade, to bring and carry the flag of their homeland so that every nationality has a representative of its own. This way we want to bless all immigrants living in Finland.
We hope that you can announce and advertise this event in your congregation or community in order to get as many nationalities living in Finland to be represented at the Christ Day as possible.
We ask all people willing to carry the flag of their country or their municipality to register to the organisers of the event:
Coordinator Hanne Tuulos tel. 050 569 3003, email: info@kristuspaiva.fi
FLAG BEARERS

From this map you can follow where do we have flag bearers. The map is updated about once a week. If your home town is not registered yet, would you become a flag bearer?
